On 28th January 2016, the Department of Education and SPACE inaugurated an IT workshop for 30 research scholars, who were provided training in using free software, the Internet and ICT. On 30th January, free software tools for teachers were covered. A session on Liberating Knowledge for Liberating Learning was conducted on 3rd February, which included tools for researchers.
On Dec 21st & 22nd 2015, ICFOSS and SPACE partnered in conducting FOSS Young Professional Meet 2015 on Internet of Things with Open Source Hardware. This was a two-day program for engineering college students and free software enthusiasts. Here, SPACE conducted two sessions and put up a stall.
A workshop on GNU/Linux from scratch was conducted on 10th and 11th of October 2015 in SPACE. About 13 students from College of Engineering Trivandrum participated in this event. On the first day they built tools for compilation by using host system and on the second day they built and installed various packages. During these two days of workshop they attempted to build an entire GNU/Linux system from its source code.
Speaking Up for the LGBT Community: SPACE contributed one chapter to Global Information Society (GIS) Watch 2015 on the theme of sexual rights and the Internet.
