SPACE-Kerala in association with the All Kerala IT Dealers Association (AKITDA) Malapurram organised a two day workshop on GNU/Linux. The workshop was aimed at enabling participating organizations to start providing better services in the emerging market of GNU/Linux Operating Systems. The event was conducted on September 11th Sunday and September 12th Monday at the Hotel Grace Residency, Malapurram. The workshop was attended by around 20 Hardware Vendors and their representatives from Malapurram. Majority of them were new comers to GNU/Linux.

We are currently living in a world that is increasingly getting interconnected and the issues of our concern are becoming global. Along the way, new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) transformed the process of knowledge construction and dissemination in our society. This process is transforming other fields of human creativity as well including music, painting or writing.

Conference on Freedom in Computing, Development and Culture. 28th -30th May, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. The Free Software, Free Society (FSFS)Conference, organized by Government and civil society organizations from Brazil, Italy, Venezuela and India, is scheduled for 28-30 May 2005 in the Southern Indian city of Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), the capital of the province of Kerala.

Dr K R Srivatsan took over as the new chairman of SPACE. Dr Srivatsan is the Director of Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management - Kerala (see www.iiitmk.ac.in), since Dec. 2000. He is also Professor and former Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Indian Institute of Technology -Kanpur.

One day seminar on FLOSS for E-Governence being organised by Kerala State IT Mission, Government of Kerala and Centre for E-Governance Initiatives (C-EGI), in association with DARPG, Govt. of India. Red Hat India (Pvt) Ltd is lead industry partner for the program.
