The day started with the keynote address by Neville Roy Singham of Thoughtworks Inc. at the Mascot Hotel Convention Centre. A packed audience hall was briefed about the Agile methodologies and how it can be clubbed with FOSS.
The Conference was kicked off at the Mascot Hotel Convention Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, with the keynote address by Eben Moglen, a professor at the Columbia University, and is the founder, Director-Counsel and Chairman of Software Freedom Law Center. Mr Moglen said that the highest level of inequality is the inequality that arises out of the concentration of knowledge with a minority.
The 2nd International Conferenceon Freedom in Computing, Development and Culture will be held from 9-11 December 2008 at Mascot Convention Center, Thiruvananthapuram. The free software movement that took shape a quarter century ago, provides an alternative model for software production, dissemination and ownership. This model has found echoes in other areas of knowledge production and dissemination, literature and the arts.
SPACE participated in Innovative Technology Exhibition organised by Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) at Institution of Engineers Hall, Thiruvananthapuram from November 28 to 30, 2008. The projects put up by SPACE at the exhibition are Insight, Malayalam Computing, Swaram and Asterisk (Open Source PBX).
A workshop on GNU/Linux was held by SPACE for teachers of NSS Engineering College, Palakkad from November 17 to November 21, 2008. 43 teachers participated in the training.
