Matrubhumi article on Insight

A news article in the Matrubhumi newspaper of July 4 th 2016 discussed the proposed expansion of SPACE’s Insight project, which is now confined to Thiruvananthapuram district, to the rest of Kerala. Insight, presently supported by the Department of Social Justice, has crossed many hurdles and uncertainties to reach its sixth year of functioning. SPACE is considering collaboration with similar organizations in all the districts of Kerala to extend Insight’s free ICT training for children with disabilities, who are often left behind in the classroom. Aimed at improving their learning and social skills, each child at Insight receives personalized training specifically tailored to their unique strengths, needs and challenges. This is where the advantages of Free Software come into play, enabling easy modifications for each child. Insight’s software helps children develop an aptitude for numbers, alphabets and language, and subjects such as Maths and Science, as well as manage their daily routines. The article also mentions the sensory room at Insight (including a photograph), which supports children who have difficulties with attention, maintaining eye contact and verbal skills.
