‘Swaram'- an audio magazine for visually challenged is ready to be rolled out. Swaram will reach to its beneficiaries in CDs as well as online. Audio communications play a vital role in the lives of the visually challenged. It is a medium that they largely depend on for information and entertainment. It is a quite common sight finding the blinds glued to a radio transistor. SPACE is committed to address the needs of the differently abled. We use the tools of ICT for bettering their lives. Insight project initiated by SPACE with the support of KSITM is such an initiative addressed to the visually challenged people of Kerala. Swaram, the audio magazine is another feather in the cap. The first edition of Swaram features News analysis , a short play, two short stories, a discussion on Free Software, to mention a few. It is developed by, 'Alakal', the community radio wing of SPACE with the creative support of the journalism students of Press Club, Thiruvanathapuram.With each new edition more useful features will be added to Swaram which is now available only in Malayalam.
