SPACE undertook a 2-day training on web based media from June 14th to 15th for the members of Openframe ,a film society and ngo based in Payyanur,Kerala.
Started in 2005,Openframe consists of individuals from different walks of life: from social activists to educationalists. From its inception ,Openframe regularly conducts film shows for the public on thematic areas. It also promotes film appreciation camps for the surrounding educational institutions. The active members of Openframe are also seen involved with the civil rights movement of the area.
The training at Openframe was aimed at to provide key skills,knowledge and support to the community/groups/activists to use new media tools to raise awareness on a cause and expose issues and threats to the integrity of their society.
the training attended by 25 participants, covered the following areas.
- Introduction new media ,the rationale and possibilities of new media
- The concept of Internet/world wide web
- Hosting a maintaining a CMS based website(wordpress)
