Malayalam computing programme kick starts

February 21 , Thiruvananthapuram:  Malayalam computing is here!. Renowned Malayalam poet V. Madhusoodhanan Nair uncovered the official logo and brochure of Malayalam computing campaign, launched by IT Department in association with Akshaya and SPACE. Dr. Ajay Kumar IAS, Secretary- IT Department presided over the function at Kesari Trust Hall. The digital revolution was leaving many behind because they don't speak English, the dominant language of computers and the Web. Also the survival of any language is now depended on how well it is used in computers. The Malayalam computing initiative answers those concerns. The project is to run in full mode from March 2008 onwards. A massive campaign is planned out in the next stage. The Akshaya network and local government bodies will work in hand with IT Mission and SPACE in realizing the programme. Initially the programme is planned to hit Kannur District alone. Dr. Dinesh Arora, IAS-Director, IT Mission, V.R Ajith Kumar-Director Akshaya, Arun M - Coordinator, SPACE were also present at the function.
