Free Software for Kerala Development

SPACE in association with Kerala State IT Mission conducted a seminar on Free Software for Kerala Development on the 23rd of August. Hon. Chief Minister Sri. V.S. Achuthananthan inaugurated the seminar, and Richard Stallman, founder of the GNU project and free software movement delivered the keynote address. The Chief Minister, in his inaugural speech said that his govt. was commited to supporting and promoting free software in the state. Mr Stallman, in his keynote address said that he was delighted that the govt. Aided schools in kerala have shifted to Free Software. Presentations on Free Software related activities of various organizations like NIC, SPACE and IIITM-K were held during the afternoon session
