The concept of selling bottled water would sound ridiculous to the older generation who believed water to be free as air. Similarly, knowledge has always been held to be free. Software is a kind of knowledge and it has to be free, said Arun M, Secretary FSF-India speaking at a seminar on Free Software organised by the Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board in Thiruvananthapuram on January 13, 2008.
Speaking at the seminar, Dr. V Sasi Kumar, Board member (SPACE) pointed to the impact of the technology revolution on the movie industry. It is being said that the movie industry is facing a crisis because of the technology that makes it possible for families to watch videos at home for Rs 30. At the same time the actors have not considered reducing the hefty sums they demand for each movie.
Anoop John, CEO, Zyxware Technologies and Vimal Joseph, Assistant Coordinator, SPACE also spoke at the seminar. Over 50 employees attended the seminar.
