SPACE jointly with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Alakal Media Society organising a one day Consultation on Community Media and Development at Hotel Chaithram, Thampanoor, Trivandrum on Friday, 7th September 2007, 10:00 am - 4:30 pm Community Media, especially Community Radio, has been an important instrument for empowering local communities in different parts of the world. In India, community radio has been, so far, a scarcely-tapped resource because the policy framework for its utilization was not in place until very recently. Since then, there has been wide interest in the use of community radio within the country. This one-day consultation is meant for the NGO and development sectors in Kerala, and will have experts speaking on topics such as the new Community Radio policy, steps for starting a community radio, other community media and success stories from other parts of the country.
