Camp for children

SPACE held 3 day camp for children from  from 6 May 2014 to 8 May 2014. 11 students attended the program. Girls outnumbered boys this time (7 girls)
The first day was on creating stopmotion animation with free software. They were grouped in to 3 and soon came up with different concepts- Volcano eruption, Earth in 2050, Global warming and made animations out of clay and pictures. It was amazing to see how sensitive children were towards environmental issues.

On the second day they were introduced to web making using X-RAY Goggles, a Mozilla tool which provides a simple easy way for anyone to inspect Web pages and learn about how they are put together. As everyone would like to see their own images in a media, they fulfilled their dreams using this technology to modify e-magazines and newspaper.

The last day was on graphical programming tool- Scratch. First question raised in their little mind was whether they could make games out of it. Finally they developed a small under-sea game where you can see lots of creatures in which a shark eats small fishes and there by increasing its scores. Though all of them took same topic, they come up with quite different expressions.

It was truly a rejuvenating experience for the kids in these 3 days and they are looking forward for the up-coming activities at SPACE. We are planning to make a permanent kids corner at SPACE.
