Alakal - waves in Malayalam and Tamil - is the ï¬rst exclusive community radio initiative in India for ï¬sherfolk. It has started daily three hour experimental narrowcast on 1st May 2006 at coastal radio clubs located at three ï¬sh landing centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. It covers people from 15 villages who come to these centres to buy and sell ï¬sh.

The workshop will be conducted by Warren Noronha, Senior Consultant, Change.org. He is one of the early adopters of Ruby on Rails and other free software projects.

SPACE jointly with Department of Electronics, Govt. College of Engineering, Trivandrum is organising a 10 day course on "ICT in Engineering Education" from 26th February 2007 to 9 March 2007. The course is intended to expose the teachers to the principles and practices in employing Information Communication Technology (ICT) in engineering education. It also aims to impart the basic skills needed for effectively using the state of the art Free Software ICT tools in their regular teaching. This programme is supported by Department of Technical Education, Govt. of Kerala.
