Web accessibility workshop concludes
Sept 26 2009: The two day Web Accessibility workshop hosted by SPACE and Centre for Internet and Society and supported by Kerala State IT Mission concluded at Christ Nagar International School today. 43 participants from various Government departments and private firms took part in the workshop. The aim of the workshop was to educate web developers of Government and non Government agencies on how to develop websites that are equally accessible to people with disabilities.
On September 19, Software Freedom Day, Insight opened an ICT lab for children with special needs. The lab set in a child-friendly ambience, has three computers which children can tinker with and explore through games and activities. Special needs comprise a wide range of physical, emotional and learning difficulties of children. Computers and computer assisted technologies are known to improve eye-hand coordination, language development and learning in all children.
A string of events jointly hosted by free software groups and programme partners will mark SPACE's Software Freedom Day celebrations this year. The events will be held on September 17, two days before the official worldwide celebrations.
The inauguration of Village Knowledge and Community computing Center(VDCC) was held at Munnar on 16th August 2009.
