Experimental Physics with Phoenix

Pramode C.E

The Phoenix project is part of a program by the Inter University Accelerator centre to improve laboratory facilities in our educational instituitions. The Phoenix box is a low cost interfacing equipment built using locally available electronics components. When connected to a PC running GNU/Linux (and a whole lot of powerful computational and visualization tools), the box opens up an exciting world of exploration and discovery to motivated students. Besides giving the audience an idea of the the architecture of the device and its programming interface, the talk will also highlight a few interesting Physics experiments performed in an unconventional way using Phoenix.
